About the team

The Merchandise team at Coles plays a critical role and pride themselves on building sustainable long term supplier relationships, developing new range offers and ideas, and working on convenient, healthy solutions.

About the role

In this permanent role you will partner with and report into the Senior Category Manager for Beef & Game. This role will see you have a focus on Beef and Local. You will be accountable for delivering a customer focussed category strategy, driving performance of the category portfolio through sales, profitability, and growth by partnering with suppliers, stakeholders and the wider team.

You’ll also:

• Be accountable for product innovation and supplier engagement through developing great sustainable relationships

• Achieve new market opportunities for convenience at Coles, in a fast-growing area of the business through cross functional relationships

• Drive category performance including P&L management and driving sales and profit

• Partner cross functionally with varied teams to support the development of an effective marketing plan and develop new product innovation and bundles

• Work collaboratively with suppliers to manage the launch of new products, speed to market, provision of market leading value and launch of strategic initiatives

About you and your skills

We are looking for a professional with a proven track record in driving sales in a large, complex organisation. Ideally with experience within the meat category. You have strong background in Merchandise, supplier relationships and category strategy with a big picture approach and mindset!

You’ll also need:

• A passion for e-commerce, product innovation and a strong drive to deliver results

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate high level of ambiguity

• Outstanding ability to influence, negotiate and demonstrated stakeholder management skills

• Ability to build strong relationships and influence cross functional teams and suppliers

• Proven ability to champion and drive change

• Strong financial acumen within a highly commercial environment
