Otterbein at SpringMeade Health Center is looking for skilled MDS Registered Nurse Responsible for coordinating documentation of resident care plans and records by the interdisciplinary team assuring compliance with State and Federal regulations. Will serve as a resource for all disciplines in meeting residents' needs.
Shift: Full-Time Monday thru Friday 8a-5p On call rotation every 7th weekend only
Responsibilities
Timely completion of MDS Assessments according to federal and state regulation.
Responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating resident specific care plans.
Functions as nursing representative for care conferences.
Monitors work of staff in nursing and other departments who contribute to the information on care plans and MDS Assessments.
Responsible for data entry on care plans and MDS Assessments.
Participates in the QA process.
Attends nursing department meetings.
Attends workshops and reads literature in order to stay current with changes in long term care regulations; presents same to facility staff as appropriate.
Perform in-services and one-on-one training sessions as needs are identified.
Recommends changes in resident care, treatment, medications as needed.
Ensures documentation is present in medical record to support MDS coding.
Completes accurate coding of MDS with information obtained from medical review; resident, family and staff interviews.
Adheres to safety and infection control policies and procedures according to universal precautions.
Respects and maintain residents' dignity, individuality, privacy and confidentiality.
Adheres to facility dress code, and maintains good personal hygiene practices.
Displays courteous, tactful, helpful manner with residents, families, visitors and fellow employees.
Maintains conscientious attendance within the standards of the personnel policies.
Performs other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be in good standing with Board of Nursing.
Previous LTC-Geriatric nursing experience preferred.
Effective written and oral communication.
Ability to demonstrate independent judgment.
Knowledge of computer skills.
Full understanding of State & Federal LTC regulations.
Thorough training/knowledge in writing/updating care plans.
Able to assess handwritten and typed documents to find errors.
Must be knowledgeable about reimbursement rules and procedures.
Current State nurse license.
CEU's as required by State.
