POSITION OVERVIEW

The First Baptist Church of Glenarden Family Life Center (FLC) is a 63,000-square-foot multi-use community complex available to FBCG members and the Prince George's County community. Our mission is to use health and wellness as a tool to Develop "Fit and Healthy" Dynamic Disciples. We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a full-time Recreation Aide at the FLC. The Recreation Aide will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, satisfaction, and engagement of our guests while upholding the policies and standards of the FLC. Incumbents must be able to work flexible hours. This position reports to the Director of the Family Life Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide oversight of activities and services to authorized patrons.

Offer general information on equipment and programs available at the facility.

Create announcements regarding operational hours, programs, and facility adjustments.

Set up weekly staff meetings and provide meeting notes to all members.

Update facility Standard Operating Procedures.

Ensure adherence to front desk procedures by staff and volunteers.

Enforce regulations and safety procedures.

Report any problems or concerns to the Director or Staff Manager on duty.

Maintain participant safety, complete accident forms, and report accidents/incidents promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be saved, possess a servant's heart, and be a member in good standing or willing to become a member in good standing of FBCG.

Must be able to submit to authorities as defined by the Pastor.

Must possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations.

Must have an understanding and appreciation for the ministry and the mission of FBCG.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Knowledge of basic physical fitness principles.

Strong team and management skills.

Effective decision-making skills.

Excellent organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills.

Initiative, accuracy, attention to detail, and possess Godly characteristics.

Teachable spirit, team player, and creative thinker.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Team and solution-oriented, flexible in demeanor and work schedule.

Follow-up and follow-through skills, resourcefulness, and ability to multitask with a positive attitude.

Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with FLC staff, members, students, and guests.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Sound independent judgment within policy and procedural guidelines.

Knowledge of pertinent recreational and fitness programs and equipment.

Minimum age requirement: 21 years.

2-4 years of experience in recreational leadership/planning.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Able to lift 40 pounds without overexertion.

Able to walk at least 1 mile.

Able to climb steps.
