Florida A&M University is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Information/Publications Services vacancy.

Responsibilities This is a 100% Extension, and the 12-month appointment is responsible to the Director of Cooperative Extension; The position is responsible for Supporting the training and coordination of Cooperative Extension programming (agriculture and natural resources, 4-H, family and consumer sciences, and community resource development); Providing leadership and administrative support and responding to citizens seeking information about extension programs; Conveying branding, news and public affairs information, and marketing; Reporting or production of news, and public information that increases the FAMU Cooperative Extension; Publicizing and informing the general public, interest groups, and alums of the Extension activities and accomplishments; Writing, producing and delivering information content on a variety of media.

Managing one or more information/publication functions, including applying multiple media productions but not limited to print, broadcasts, podcasts, websites, and social media; Use of applicable computer software and computer functions related to digital media; Coordinate public relations and/or marketing functions to communicate with and inform entities of the specific educational or training programs; Managing one or more educational or training programs, formulating and recommending policies and procedures to administer such programs effectively; Interpreting educational or training administrative rules and policies and recommending new and improved programs to manage educational or training functions effectively; Serve as liaison with chambers of commerce, governmental and education systems, business, community, and other groups and individuals; Prepare monthly reports indicating accomplishments and related documentation and reports.

Other duties include Attending regularly scheduled communications/marketing meetings and ensuring extension communications and marketing products comply with University and NIFA standards; Ensures professional growth through participation in communication/marketing-related educational workshops; Supports the FAMU Land Grant mission by actively participating in National and Regional Extension meetings and seminars, supporting the 1890 Extension communication and marketing programmatic areas, and presenting at National and Regional Conferences; Must be willing to work irregular hours, evening and weekends; Assumes other assignments and responsibilities in support of the total Extension Program; Makes individual transportation arrangements adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions; Assumes regular travel throughout the state and occasionally at a regional and national level; Programming will be conducted in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Civil Rights policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of related experience; or master's degree in appropriate area of specialization.

Recommended Competencies Knowledge of applicable computer software and essential computer functions; Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; Knowledge of journalism ethics, rules, and procedures; Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations; Knowledge of the standards, principles, trends, and practices of multiple media production including but not limited to print, broadcasts, podcasts, websites, and social media; Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously; Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices; and, Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications Use appropriate technologies to plan and deliver educational programs through workshops, seminars, conferences, media, one-on-one visits, field trips, tours and other methods; Use computer applications appropriate to the subject-matter being delivered and the collecting of data for reporting purposes; Ability to recruit, train and manage volunteers; Experience in developing positive interactions with the public; Experience in planning, implementing, marketing, and evaluating educational programs; and, Maintain a personal commitment to working with diverse clientele and colleagues.

Pay Plan This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.

Conditions of Employment Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education.
