Description Under direct supervision of the Facilities Superintendent, functions as a custodian for all City of Rockwall buildings and facilities.

Employees in this class are responsible for completing daily work and cleaning schedules.

Performs other related work as directed.

Employees in this class possess dexterity and manipulative ability, utilize a variety of cleaning tools, chemicals and equipment in the performance of tasks, and work in adverse environmental conditions.

Position ensures the proper functioning and care of equipment under charge.

POSITION WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR HIRE LATE JUNE.

Examples of Essential Functions * Cleans and vacuums all City buildings and facilities, including inside windows and restrooms.

* Receives work orders and coordinates to accomplish assignments.

* Responsible for completing cleaning schedules, ensuring proper tools, supplies, materials and equipment are ordered/transported to work sites.

* Drives to and from all municipal buildings.

* Operates simple to moderately complex equipment, e.g.

City vehicle, mops, vacuums, waxing machinery.

* Prepares assigned equipment for safe and efficient operating condition by inspecting prior to and after use.

* Performs and schedules regular and preventive maintenance and repair for equipment under charge.

* Ensures a safe work zone by proper use of signage and cleaning chemicals and equipment.

* Collects trash and recyclable materials from offices.

Places recyclable refuse in proper receptacles.

* Utilizes various cleaning, disinfecting and waxing chemicals and compounds.

* Mops entrance and tiled areas.

* Required to report for work punctually, work all scheduled hours, and any required overtime as deemed necessary.

Must maintain a physical condition and standards necessary for the proper performance of duties, with or without accommodation.

Education and Experience High school diploma, GED, or vocational training supplemented by 2 years work-related experience that demonstrates the ability to organize; self-starting motivation; dependability; ability to work with minimal supervision, and safely/effectively operate the aforementioned equipment.

A valid state driver's license is required.

Supplemental Information Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of the various types of custodial procedures, equipment, and supplies.

* Knowledge of potential hazards of the materials and equipment used in performing assigned tasks.

* Knowledge of occupational safety rules and practices associated with performing duties.

* Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise the performance of simple to moderately complex contract cleaning tasks and projects.

* Ability to perform manipulative tasks requiring eye/hand/foot coordination.

* Ability to perform heavy manual tasks.

* Ability to issue and receive oral and written directions.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, fellow employees, and the public.

Ability to lift heavy objects and work in adverse environmental conditions.

Physical Requirements: * Tasks involve the regular, and at times sustained performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined spaces, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 pounds) items.

Environmental Requirements: * Tasks require exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g.

dirt, cold, rain, fumes), exposure to extreme heat/cold or extreme weather conditions, exposure to strong odors and/or smoke, exposure to strong and/or toxic chemicals and dust or pollen.

Sensory Requirements: * Tasks require sound, odor, depth and visual perception and discrimination.

* Tasks require oral communication ability.
