GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The District Manager of Student Information and Data is responsible for the daily planning and oversight of the student information and data needs of Catawba County Schools. The District Manager of Student Information and Data will manage the collection, organization, input, analysis and reporting of student, school, and teacher level data to help inform operational and academic decisions. The District Manager of Student Information and Data will report to the Director of Accountability and Student Information Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Oversees student information system operation as it relates to school-based data managers and the accurate and efficient collection of data
Enforce policies and procedures that establish ownership of data, processes for timely data collection, and auditing of data
Attends district, regional and state trainings and meetings
Coordinates training and on-going professional development to support the fidelity of the student information system in schools
Provides training and technical support to school sites and district level staff in the use of student data systems and data entry
Develops procedural instructions for the effective management of the student information system
Troubleshoots system problems, coordinate and arrange for repairs as necessary and confer with technical support personnel to resolve malfunctions
Ensures technical and functional security policies are communicated, understood and adhered to by the LEA and end-users
Assigns roles and rights in the student information system
Oversees the district registration system for students and staff
Is responsive to school-based needs, questions or concerns
Assures accuracy and timely submission of student data
Manages/creates course codes
Maintains a calendar of yearly processes and events to ensure schools are prepared for submission prior to due dates
Develops system queries and reports on the assigned student information system; provide specific information to district sites and administration
Plans, organizes and recommends priorities for effective and efficient operations related to electronic records
Communicates with other Central Office staff and administration to exchange information, resolve issues and coordinate activities
Maintains and distributes communications between the LEA and the student information system contact at NCDPI
Reviews and verifies the accuracy of completed documents for compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures
Becomes familiar with the Accountability data systems
Assists with the ordering, counting and dissemination of test materials
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma
Minimum of three-year's experience as a school-based PowerSchool data manager, preferably at the high school level
Experience with troubleshooting student data systems and training end-users
Experience with data compilation and analysis
Excellent organization, project management and leadership skills
Ability to develop, revise and implement procedures, systems and programs
Flexible, self-motivated individual who flourishes in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
Detail and results oriented team player, dedicated to getting the job done
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Google
Excellent communication skills accompanied by a customer service professional attitude

MINIMUM STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Technology Aptitude: Requires knowledge of Google products and a variety of other software. Must be able to create documents, reports, stationary, correspondence, databases, and presentations using a computer or other wireless device.
Physical Requirements: Requires light physical work. Must be able to lift mail and boxes up to ten pounds. Must be able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to others.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read simple to complex forms. Requires the ability to prepare time sheets and supply requisitions using prescribed format.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in Standard English.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply.
Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using a keyboard.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate to high levels of stress. Must maintain strict confidentiality and be extremely trustworthy.
