Job Description
Kett Engineering is currently seeking a Engine Dynamometer Technician for our client located in Plymouth, MI.
The dynamometer technician will set up various vehicles and test equipment under engineering supervision, including engine dynamometer tests. Provides complete and accurate test data to engineers and managers.
Pay Rate: $26 -$36 per hour. Depending on experience.
Shift Time:
3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs engine performance related tests using engine dynamometer and supporting equipment. Includes set up of various engines and test equipment for data collection, fabrication of small parts and necessary fixtures.
Performs various engine builds and tear-down inspections of current production and proto-type engines, documents all critical measurements.
Organizes and maintains inventory of necessary parts and equipment needed to perform daily operations of emissions test area. Conducts calibration of equipment as directed.
Collects and processes engine performance related data as requested and communicates results to appropriate personnel.
Works with outside contractors and engineering facilities supplying services to our organization. Supports off-site testing activities as required.
Maintains safe, clean and orderly lab and surrounding environment.
Assists with the procurement, installation and calibration of new test equipment for various test applications.
Performs required maintenance items on test engines and test vehicles as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 – 2 years college level automotive courses or 2 year degree in auto related field
Automotive Service Excellence Certification (preferred)
Minimum 1 – 2 years’ RECENT experience in engine dynamometer testing
Experience in research and development
Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience in automotive repair or related field
AVL Puma Experience (preferred)
Good PC Skills
Emission testing experience (preferred)
Must be able to work in hot and cold extremes
Requires lifting of 5 - 60 lbs. and heavy lifting on rare occasions
KNOWLEDGE:
Basic operational knowledge of dynamometers
Good grasp of engine fundamentals (diesel preferred)
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Aptitude for engine evaluation
Ability to follow project goals and targets effectively as directed
Aptitude for problem solving skills
Good concentration and attention to detail
Must be available to participate in occasional travel/weekend work
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a commercial driver's licenseCompany Description
