Registered Medical Assistant with active AAMA or AMT Certification

POSITION TITLE: Registered and/or Certified Medical Assistant

FUNCTIONS:

Provides nursing assessments, and services to individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders (MH/SA) on an emergency and regular basis (e.g., administer IM injections, take vital signs, perform drug screens, crisis intervention, first aide, etc.). Participates in being a part of the holistic treatment team. Work closely with physicians, psychiatrists, and ARNPs to ensure continuity of care for clients served. Assists supervisor in order medical supplies. Assist supervisor in tracking initial, yearly and ongoing physical examination and laboratory test requirements. Completes documentation, as required.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Requirements

1. Certification or national registration as a medical assistant. Diploma from a medical assistant program.

2. Prefer knowledge of psychiatric and co-occurring disorders and knowledge of the effects of substance use and mental illness.

3. Prefer knowledge of the mental health and substance system in Broward County.

4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

5. Prefer experience with individual psychiatric, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders population.

6. Prefer knowledge of psychopathology and pharmacology.

7. Must be able to use the telephone, computer, copy/fax machine, and agency vans.

8. Required to cover the nursing department.

9. Must have excellent organizational, time management, and writing skills.

10. Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

11. Completes CEU requirements, as mandated to maintain certification or registration.

12. Maintains first aid and CPR certifications.

13. Prefer knowledgeable in HIV/AIDS information.

14. Must be able to take direction from psychiatrists/ARNPs and supervisor.

15. Prefer experience with DSM/ICD diagnoses.
