Pesticide Spray Technician/IPM Scout

Job Summary: This position performs chemical spraying to protect plants from insects and disease threats to provide quality grown liners to our customers. Also, preventive scouting of pest and disease daily.

Job Responsibilities:

· Mix chemicals in a precise and safe manner

· Maintain a clean and safe work area, particularly in chemical mixing areas

· Operate spray equipment including carts, tractors, spray pumps, and spray backpacks

· Complete spray paperwork

· Other duties as assigned

· Scouting crops to identify any pests and disease

· Alerting Management of any pest and disease issues as they occur

Qualifications:

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs (herbicide sack weight)

· Prior nursery and/or spray experience is a plus

· Experience with identifying pest and disease preferred

· Pass medical fit for duty testing annually

· Must be able to read and understand instructions and safety information on SDS sheets for the chemicals being used.

· Must be able to stand and walk for long periods outdoors and in variable weather conditions.

· Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal directions.

Work Environment:

Outside – exposed to very cold and very hot temperatures.
