Required Skills and Experience
- 1-2+ years network engineering experience
- Network provisioning and testing
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment during MST business hours
- Optical transport experience is highly desirable - SONET, ROADM, DWDM, Ciena, etc.
- Cisco certification - CCNP, CCNA
- Cisco Optical technology training
Nice to Have Skills and Experience
- BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EIGRP, and/or ISIS
Job Description
Our client is a Fortune 100 telecommunications company, and their Core Backbone Operations organization is looking for junior to mid-level network engineers to support testing and provisioning of their optical systems in support of their enterprise networking initiatives.
On a day-to-day basis, candidates will:
- Work normal business hours (MST) provisioning and testing optical waves.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols.
- Apply in-depth knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology.
- Use Jira ticketing, Visio, and other software tools to support the current operations.
- Support basic network devices and basic network appliances.
