Tool and Die Designer

A growing integrated tooling and automation company in Grand Rapids is seeking a Tool and Die Designer to join its team. This is a hands-on position, collaborating with production, assembly, and die build to design high-quality progressive and transfer dies used in metal stamping to support a variety of industries. If you’re an experienced tool and die professional with strong experience designing dies in NX, this is the role for you!

Tool and Die Designer Responsibilities

Utilize NX design software to produce quality detailed drawings for die build.

Create detailed drawings of CAD files for manufacture of dies and associated tooling.

Create part prints for quoting.

Create 3D CAD models for CAM operation die details.

Update models as needed for engineering changes.

Maintain documentation and archives as required.

Provide CAD support to Die Makers as needed.

Create 3d strip (process) layouts/die designs using NX design software.

Download, log, and process incoming customer CAD data as necessary.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Tool and Die Designer Qualifications

5+ years of experience utilizing NX design software to produce metal stamping die designs (progressive and transfer dies) required.

Experience in a tool and die build role preferred but not required.

Strong understanding of tooling and die related issues with ability to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions.

Detail-oriented, accurate, reliable, with strong organizational and time management abilities.

Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external customers.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
