Kelly Engineering is currently seeking an experienced Process Automation Technician for a long-term opportunity in Orange, Texas! The Process Automation Technician supports activities relating to the support of process automation systems and provides preventative maintenance and 7x24 troubleshooting support for installed base systems. Minimizes plant downtime caused by process automation system failures, while providing services that are cost effective and sustainable. Has an overall knowledge of all current hardware, operating system software, networking systems and system software. Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities / Duties

Provides care and troubleshooting of the process automation systems, and their associated networks and interfaces.

Provides corrective support in response to a system error condition or failure as the first point of escalation from the plant.

Participates in software and hardware upgrades.

Understands and follows all identified Dow Process Automation work processes, such as Problem Resolution and Request Management, S&OP Case entry, Engineering and Maintenance Asset database updates.

Completes small project work including system installation, configuration, design and development.

Tracks and redeploys assets.

Provides training and knowledge transfer to plant system focal points, as well as other site support resources.

Interfaces with others in the Plant who support process control on troubleshooting and upgrades.

Monitors system diagnostics aligned with plan process control staff.

Participates in risk assessment when activities to the system are required.

Escalates issues to additional support resources and follow-ups, as necessary.

Support activities relating process automation systems for the Energy Environmental Operations facility.

Acquire overall knowledge of all current hardware, operating system software, networking systems and system software.

Performs predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) and health checks on systems to minimize plant downtime caused by process automation system failures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Understanding of instrumentation and wiring to control systems.

Process control, manufacturing, or other related experience.

High School or equivalent

At least 3-5 years of related experience

Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Familiarity with ABB IO (Harmony or S800).

Familiarity with ABB control systems consoles (PPB or 800XA).

Familiarity with PLC equipment and/or configuration.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB, WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:

Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes

Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting

Work in tight or closed-in spaces.

Stand or walk for extended periods of time

Occasional lifting of material weighing approximately 50 lbs.
