Staff Accountant

Dunham’s Sports a Regional full line sporting goods retailer located in Troy, MI has an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant. This position will support the Accounting and Finance Department. This is a full-time position that works out of our corporate office in Troy, MI

Job Responsibilities

Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual statements by collecting data, analyzing, and investigating variances, and summarizing data and trends.

Prepares journal entries for monthly closing process

Assists with inventory control and reconciliation processes

Maintains lease accounting database and related monthly adjustments

Prepares month-end accruals

Prepares month-end reconciliations

Assists with sales tax filing requirements by studying regulations, adhering to requirements, and advising management on required actions.

Assists with the preparation of personal property tax returns

Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data

Provides financial advice by studying operational issues, applying financial principles, and practices

Prepares special reports, forecasts and analysis

Assists Treasury Department staff with reconciliations and banking

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a related field

Minimum of 3 years’ finance and accounting experience

Certified Public Accountant certification in progress acceptable.
