Director of Information Technology

Job Summary

The Director of IT is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive Information Technology roadmap, supporting the company’s overall business strategy and objectives in alignment with the IT strategy, while driving the company’s culture and vision.

The role collaborates with other management team members and identifies, prioritizes and organizes IT initiatives and subsequently plans, builds, runs and supports IT solutions, which contribute to the achievement of business goals. The role must ensure the company’s best usage of information technology and solutions to enable and drive growth and innovation of the company’s business. The Director of IT is responsible for building and leading an agile, business focused IT organization and is supported by external vendors and partners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Technical oversight of all IT platforms to ensure high degree of availability & continuity for business operations.

Maintaining departmental budget and key external vendors - including MSP and development partner management, contract evaluations & negotiations, hardware/software purchasing/asset management.

Partner with the executive team to determine overall corporate technology roadmap; leveraging of technology for improved business efficiency; and research emerging technologies/trends.

Works on the current roadmap and continuation of development of the technology roadmap that anticipates and meets business requirements. Lead all aspects of the company’s technology activities as it relates to an agreed upon vision, and business priorities.

Implement, and maintain a consistent IT architecture to serve the needs of the business.

Works in a consultative fashion, cross-functionally, with sales, marketing, finance, and plan administrators as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and/or effectiveness in a fashion that supports company culture, mission and values.

Understands industry trends; conduct case studies and research on cutting edge technologies.

Understands short and long-term needs with keen understanding of business needs to act quickly with innovative solutions while limiting risks.

Hands-on, pragmatic approach to optimizing results with outsourced resources, while planning for growth.

Business-minded executive who aligns technology priorities/spend with business goals and understands activities that optimize business results and valuation.

Able to communicate technology vision clearly with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience with implementing and maintaining cyber and data security processes and procedures

Required Skills:

Bachelors in computer science / engineering; MBA/MS preferred.

5 years experience as Head of IT / CIO / IT Director

ROI and data driven strategic planning and execution

Track record of developing stable, cost effective, scalable, secure IT applications infrastructure.

Strong experience with a variety of software development methodologies and best practices including managing outsourced teams

Implementing, integrating, and supporting enterprise SaaS-Based systems such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, VOIP admin etc.; Specific experience with NetSuite ERP, Zoho CRM is preferred

Implementing & managing a highly effective internal support desk and working with MSP partners

Background with the Microsoft/Azure-powered suite of systems applications (Windows Server/Active Directory, O365, SharePoint/Teams) to support 50+ users in multi-site, often remote working environment

Experience in security threat prevention and mitigation
