About the Role: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safety and environmental compliance of the organization’s facilities, equipment, and employees. The person in this role will design, develop, and implement safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and OSHA regulations. They will provide technical expertise in occupational safety, advise management on loss control and risk reduction strategies, and train and coach employees on safety practices. The Safety Coordinator will communicate effectively to maintain clear lines of communication and consistent execution of safety programs.

Your responsibilities:

Design, develop, and implement safety and health programs to ensure compliance with all regulations including federal, state, local, and OSHA.

Provide leadership and technical expertise in the areas of occupational safety; advise management on loss control and risk reduction strategies.

Train, mentor, and coach management and employees as well as monitor site practices and conditions.

Communicate effectively to maintain clear lines of communication and consistent execution of safety programs.

Support safe practices daily with a visible presence in all areas.

Support incident investigations wherever needed; assure that fire control and other safety equipment is properly tested, inspected, posted, and marked; assure that hazardous materials are handled, stored and disposed of appropriately.

Track and provide insight into common issues, trends, problems, and opportunities to reduce losses and incident costs; maintain information and performance measurement systems to ensure that loss information is tracked and effectively communicated.

Maintain site permits and assure operating compliance.

Promote environmental health & safety awareness through internal specific training programs.

Support the environmental team with all federal, state, and local, air, water, wastewater, and hazardous waste regulations.

Provide synergy and an integrated effort for the implementation of an on-going safety improvement process that includes pre-injury loss prevention strategies; provide facility emergency response services as part of emergency coordination team and continue to support SIFP (Serious Injury Fatalities Potential) activities.

Provide Injury/Incident Management services as required.

Stay abreast of new technologies and current trends to make recommendations that help improve and refine the safety process.

Performs other related duties as required.

What You Will Bring:

Associate's degree in industrial health and safety, Environmental sciences or engineering or other business-related discipline.

2+ Years in an Environmental/Safety role in a Manufacturing Environment.

Intermediate knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health administration regulations and environmental regulations.

Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred.

Through education and experience, a candidate must have the knowledge and ability to perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed above.

The Safety Coordinator must possess strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. They should demonstrate a keen eye for detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the capacity to excel both autonomously and collaboratively. Additionally, they should exhibit adeptness in task prioritization, efficient time management, and the ability to work effectively with a team.

Work Environment: Responsibilities are carried out in both indoor settings and in the plant, an unregulated environment that experiences extreme temperatures and high levels of noise, including but not limited to other uncontrollable factors.
