1. Clinical Activities
A. Assessment
o Conduct Psychiatric Rehabilitation assessments per physician order and communicate findings to the patients and treatment team: Money Management, Functional Assessment, Leisure Assessment, Vocational Assessment, Fitness Assessment
o Assist with determining need for Rehabilitation Assessments
o Contribute input to the diagnostic formulation
o Conduct consultations in areas of specialized expertise, i.e. behavioral plans, social skills, etc
o Collaborate with patient and interdisciplinary team members in disposition planning/discharge planning
o Assist in determining appropriate psychiatric rehabilitation interventions that are congruent with patient needs and communicate to appropriate individuals
o Assess clients’ interests, strengths, and independent living skills in order to help client develop overall rehabilitation goals (real-world goals)
o Document responses to PsyR Interventions
B. Interventions
o Provide psychosocial skills training and practice through:
o Individual, i.e. IMR techniques
o Group, i.e. social skills, goal setting, DBT, interpersonal relationships
o Other specialized treatments according areas of competence, i.e. music therapy
o Initiate a comprehensive wellness planning in collaboration with patient and interdisciplinary treatment team member which entails helping the pt. comprise a useable document that summarizes an understanding of the pt’s illness/disabilities as well as how to manage the illness and disabilities while pursuing recovery related goals.
o Provide health promotion groups, i.e. creative expression, fitness, crafts
o Assist in addressing Axis IV and V diagnoses and improving functionality in those areas
o Engage patients in treatment through a variety of modalities
o Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate staff and record them accurately and concisely
o Provide feedback to patient, interdisciplinary team members
C. Teamwork
o Contribute to team meetings, diagnostic conferences, program council, rounds, community meeting, discipline meetings, committees, and work groups
o Participate in the orientation and training of new staff
2. Academic Activities
A. Teaching
o Provide presentations to professional and community audiences
B. Research
o Contribute to the professional literature through conference presentations and professional publications
3. Institutional service and professional development
o Perform administrative and committee duties consistent with assigned roles
o Contribute to program development utilizing psychiatric rehabilitation evidence based practices
o Participate in hiring activities
o Engage in ongoing professional development through in-service training, supervision, workshops, grand rounds, and other educational activities
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in mental health-related field to include specific training in psychiatric rehabilitation methods
License/Certification: Licensure/certification in mental health allied discipline specialty (such as CPRP, CRC, MT-BC, ATR or CTRS) OR the ability to sit for the requisite examination within 18 months of hire.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in psychiatric rehabilitation treatment methods. Prior experience in the mental health field
