Job Summary

The Infusion Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, will assist in duties that include, but not limited to, preparation, dispensation, and inventory management of all medications and supplies in the Pharmacy. The Infusion Pharmacy Technician will prepare IV admixtures, unit dose medications, fill Pyxis, and support the needs of the Pharmacy and Infusion Center. The Infusion Pharmacy Technician will collaborate with other Pharmacy team members to provide safe, accurate and timely delivery of medications to our patients. This position will perform other duties as assigned and may require participation in training and orienting new hires and/or Pharmacy Interns.

Essential Job Duties

Ensure compliance with all USP 797 & 800 requirements including using proper aseptic technique for all pharmaceutical compounding, ensuring routine cleaning requirements are met, and supporting documentation is completed.

Maintain adequate inventory amounts of medication and supplies to support pharmaceutical compounding operations including maintaining accurate inventory records and coordinating with manufacturers and wholesalers to ensure timely delivery of products.

Work with the billing team to support the timely processing of patient claims, which includes accurate documentation of pharmaceutical codes (i.e. J-codes).

Utilize effective communication to collaborate with other members of the clinical team with the goal of achieving positive patient outcomes.Required Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED

Minimum of two (2) years of sterile compounding experience

Ability to demonstrate proper aseptic compounding techniques and pharmaceutical calculation

Active California Technician License in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy

High proficiency in the use of Excel, Word, and Outlook applicationsPreferred Education/Experience

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT)

Thorough knowledge of USP 797 & USP 800, and use of closed-system transfer device

Experience working with Hazardous medications

Experience working with Pyxis

Bilingual in English and SpanishLicensure/Certification/Registration:

Basic Life Support

HIPAA trainingDepartment: Pharmacy

Location: On-site

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
