The primary role of the Assistant/Associate Teacher is to work collaboratively with the lead teacher in the classroom to support learning and the social development of the children in the program. The job includes planning and facilitating interactive play-based activities to promote the growth and development of each child within age-appropriate curriculum areas and within the learning centers of the classroom. The lead and assistant teacher work together to promote independence, social skills, and language development among the students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Work directly with students to support and enhance their learning within our classroom of two-year-olds.

Collaborate with the lead teacher to plan units of study based on the interests of students and families.

Create and actively promote a welcoming environment where every child and parent is treated with dignity and respect.

Along with the lead teacher, develop and implement an exciting and creative classroom experience incorporating science, cooking, large motor activities, waterplay, storytime, and art.

Establish meaningful relationships with families and maintain effective communication, both oral and written.

Qualifications:

Experience working with young children in a group setting.

The ability to work within a team approach.

Knowledge of early childhood education best practices.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college is preferred.

Skills in art, theater, music, and literacy are a plus.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

Full-time position.

Monday - Friday during the school year.

Usual hours: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Compensation range of $34,650 - $37,800 per year based on education.

WORK AUTHORIZATION & CLEARANCES:

Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.

Must pass the background check, medical form, and fingerprinting through the Departments of Health and Education.
