Systems Engineer position - Decatur, GA

This position has a hybrid on-site/off-site work schedule. The contractor will work 3 days on-site and 2 days work from home. There is generally no or very little face-to-face contact with other staff members; all meetings are through Teams.

Responsibilities:

Analyze complex system behavior, performance, network, and infrastructure issues in cooperation with the application team and Vendors.

Serve as the Tier 2 and 3 support to troubleshoot critical incidents. Tier 1 support is provided by Vendors.

Coordinate Server migration and refresh activities with the application team and Vendors.

Collaborate on Server Software installation and configuration changes with IT Management and application team.

Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises, Backup, and Recovery meetings, Change Board meetings, as needed.

Partner with IT Security, IT Management, application team and Vendors to remediate vulnerabilities identified in server infrastructure. Vendors provide basic OS patch management.

Recommend design, deploy and maintain network integration between environments in cooperation with Vendors.

Document network and server infrastructure.

Promote best practices across network and server infrastructure.

Analyze firewall requirements and submit requests for changes by Vendor.

Review Servers for Error Events and coordinate resolution.

Recommend and implement automation for manual processes.

Closely collaborate with the application team, offering education and guidance on integration, operations, and monitoring across the infrastructure.

Participate in Software Deployments as needed.

Maintain VxRail infrastructure as needed.

Recommend design, deploy, and maintain the production infrastructure and services hosted on Azure as needed.

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

Team player who will excel within a highly communicative and collaborative environment.

Strong written and oral communication skills are required.

Ability to contribute to multiple projects/demands simultaneously.

Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.

Experience with distributed networks and systems.

Experience with Windows Group Policy Objects, Firewalls, Network access troubleshooting, network design, server deployment and migration, and VPN configuration.

Experience managing corporate Active Directory.

Scripting skills: Bash/Python/PowerShell

Virtualization platforms: VMware, et al

Azure Backup, Azure Policy, and Security Center

Experience with Windows and Linux administration

Experience with configuring and securing mission-critical production servers.

Experience handling critical production incidents.

Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, etc.)
