Mission:

FLITE Center, supported by a coalition of service providers, is a central resource for youth that prepares them to lead successful lives after aging out of foster care.

Position Objective:

This position is responsible for the implementation of supportive housing services on behalf of FLITE Center. The housing success coach serves as a resource expert, advocate, and liaison in the maintenance of affordable housing for transitioning youth living in Broward County. The right candidate will be able to identify and assess community needs and availability of living arrangement options for youth in the TIL System of Care. Must work with program participants, provider staff, landlords, property owners, etc. to ensure that all young people have adequate shelter during the transition from out of home care to independence.

Responsibilities:

To act as a liaison between the youth, support staff, and housing providers to maintain living arrangement placement.

To ensure that each young person is appropriate for the housing options through prescreening and intake efforts.

Must have the ability to provide in-home support for one-on-one hands-on life skill instruction in home. Topic areas include but are not limited to cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting and paying bills, scheduling appointments, etc.

Assist in the coordination of Housing Life Skills sessions for the youth and distribute incentives to the youth when needed.

Assist the program participants in meeting goals as stated in their Individual Service Plan.

Advocate on behalf of the young person.

Assist the program participants to identify resources for issues around housing, education, vocational training, life skill development, relationships, therapeutic and health services.

Maintain accurate and timely records and program documentation; including tracking data for the program grant.

Be on call and respond to all housing needs including nights and weekends, when needed.

Intake the donation of household goods.

Responsibilities:

Attend biweekly supervision and case conferences as scheduled/needed.

Conduct and complete Casey Life Skills Assessment, Client Satisfaction Surveys, Individualized Service and Transition Plans as needed/requested.

Create & review client’s budget monthly and collect client portion of rents (as applicable).

Report & track all runaway/hospitalization/DJJ/BSO law violation incidents in coordination with the Director of Programs

Attend all meetings, events and conferences pertaining to housing, homelessness, Human Trafficking & LGBTQ affairs as needed.

Provide necessary support and follow up to program participants to ensure needs are met.

Maintain participant contact to assure compliance and stability in the housing arrangement.

Responsible for completion of monthly property inspections forms for clients.

Ensure bi-monthly contact with landlords and housing partners to nurture and cultivate the housing relationship.

Identify and seek out new housing opportunities to expand participant housing options.

Make referrals to other agencies and community resources and follow-up as needed.

Participate in current and new grant application processes and other funding processes, as applicable.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Must be able to pass a level 2 background check

Bachelor’s degree in Social work or related field required, Master’s degree is preferred.

3+ years of experience in housing/real estate development is preferred.

3+ years of experience in social services/child welfare is preferred. (although a combination of work-related experience and education will be considered)

Must have experience in working with the following youth populations: Homeless, Human Trafficking Survivors, LGBTQ+, Foster Care/Dependency System.

Experienced in writing case notes/case file documentation.

Demonstratable experience with building and maintaining business/community relationships.

Schedule flexibility is required including nights and weekends as needed.

Computer skills required i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.

High level of organizational skills

Must own a vehicle and be able to transport self, youth and supplies.

Ability to lift supplies and small furniture (not more than 50 pounds).

Ability to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time (2-4 hours generally)

Licenses and Other Requirements:

Ability to work independently and in teams

Maintain valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current vehicle insurance to a suitable and reliable vehicle during working hours.

Language Skills:

Ability to effectively communicate in English; both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
