The Dispatch and Inventory Specialist (DIS) is responsible for local pickup and deliveries. The DIS will interact with customers in-person on a daily basis. The DIS also must have certain skills, or the ability to acquire them through proper training and development. Those skills are lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted, the ability to use navigation software while operating a motor vehicle, a safe driving record, physical range of motion that requires bending, squatting, and other basic movements, and the ability to read, write, and interpret instructions.

Interpersonal communication - The key to collaboration is communication. Interpersonal communication is a free exchange of thoughts, feeling, and ideas through verbal and non-verbal methods. It is imperative that the DIS possesses the ability to communicate with the rest of the team in a way that fosters teamwork, trust, and a shared commitment to producing a good product. The DIS must be able to maintain their commitment to effective and collaborative communication even in times of extreme stress.

Stress management - Every person in every job will experience stress from time to time. Stress cannot be avoided, but how a person manages stress can help to mitigate the damaging effects it has on the individual and on the organization. The DIS must be able to maintain a strong work ethic regardless of the workload or the pressure they feel from management and outside forces.

Attention to detail - When parts leave the preparation area and go on to the next phase in the process, they need to be free of all dirt, debris, sand, sludge, and other materials that can interfere with accurate inspections or hinder the ability to perform certain repairs. For this reason, it is essential that a PPS pay close attention to detail and maintain the high standards set forth by Aircraft Specialties Services and our customers.
