Salary: $80,000 and up depending on experience
Our Company manufactures tools for electrical contractors, offering more than 100 products, including cable pullers, conduit benders, and knockout sets. We are based in Upstate Greenville, South Carolina off of 85 and Hwy 29, and the Company is proud of its national connections, as well as its customer service. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
JOB SUMMARY: The Mechanical Design Engineer position includes product design, research, prototyping, and engineering documentation. It requires working with other designers, purchasing, shop personnel, and quality control
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Design and engineer new products for manufacture to address industry needs
Analyze designs for strength, function, manufacturability, lifespan, etc using engineering analysis, simulation, and testing
Oversee and assist with the prototype and development of new products from concept to release
Evaluate, solve, and correct technical issues with products post launch
Assist sales personnel with technical questions when needed
SKILLS
Can perform engineering analysis and calculations such as strength analysis, gear and chain drives, fatigue life, etc
Proficient with SolidWorks and 3D solid modeling techniques
Familiar with 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD or DraftSight
Good understanding of machining, fabrication, and assembly tolerances
Able to work on projects independently with minimal supervision
Able to communicate effectively
Strong mechanical aptitude
Excellent problem-solving skills
Comfortable with Microsoft Office: Word and Excel
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES
Attend meetings involving engineering
Occasionally travel to a jobsite if required
SAFETY / HOUSEKEEPING
Always work in a safe manner and ensure co-workers do the same
Maintain a neat and sanitary work area
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 3 years mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment
Some electrical engineering knowledge is a plus
Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of typical manufacturing processes, including:
Welding (manual and robotic)
Sheet Metal Fabrication
Assembly Tolerances
Machining
Metal Casting
Coatings
Hands on experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
