Join a winning team! SAIC’s National Security and Space (NSS) Sector is currently hiring for a customer within the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in Chantilly, VA. This customer is responsible for designing, building, and operating national security-related systems based in space, in the air, and on the ground. SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with NRO experience to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer.

This position supports a System Program Office (SPO) in a technical capacity for planning, execution, monitoring, and oversight of system development and acquisitions that advance the NRO’s space resiliency posture.

The systems engineer will join a team of on-site SETAs with responsibilities that may include but are not limited to the following:

Lead program through the Systems Engineering process

Communicate across organizational boundaries

Participate in the development, management, and assessment of program acquisition/engineering documentation

Review system level requirements and concepts of operation

Assess impacts of changes to functional/system/enterprise requirements on the architecture, interfaces, and verification/validation plans

Oversee system verification and validation process

Develop products in support of system level requirements and interface specifications for IC systems to leadership

Participate in technical interchange meetings between developers and the COTR

Required Qualifications:

Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Bachelor’s degree in systems / aeronautical / mechanical engineering, or scientific/technical discipline with at least 9 or more years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in systems / aeronautical / mechanical engineering, or scientific/technical discipline with at least 7 years or more relevant experience.

Knowledge of optical system design, analysis, manufacture and test

Experience with IC systems engineering process

Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills.

Strong written and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment
