Lead electric machine drive system development for electric motors (brushed/brushless DC, stepper, ACIMs) and/or next-generation electrical machines for space, aerospace, military, and transportation markets and applications. Understanding of related drive and control electronics strongly desired; interfacing hardware and controls/software is advantageous. Assist in coordination of joint-development partnerships and contracts. Provide experience and insight in making complex design tradeoffs while managing overall system and project objectives.
Responsibilities
Analyze customer requirements and specifications, identify potential design challenges and develop innovative solutions or mitigation strategies
Develop and design electric machines to performance specifications/requirements
Conduct analysis and simulation of machine performance and reliability
Perform trade studies to enable down-selection of designs
Support control algorithm, calibration, diagnostic development during system and dynamometer testing
Assist with design of experiments S/DFMEA, DFM development
Participate in customer/supplier joint technology development projects
Support programs from concept to production implementation phase
Foster engineering team development and collaboration in areas of machine design optimization
Support technology development process and deliverables
Qualifications
Required: BS ME/EE or higher with project/work experience in electric machine and drive systems analysis, testing and/or technology implementation. Experience with electromagnetic FEA and software (Siemens/Infolytica MotorSolve and MagNet preferred, ANSYS Maxwell, etc.).
