Operations Trainer Job Description

The successful candidate will be a culturally competent motivator with the ability to teach and uphold the Busboys and Poets policies, procedures and practices. You will convey proper leadership skills by establishing the highest standards for performance expectations.

Starting Salary: $70,000

Position Summary

The Operations Trainer will play a crucial role in ensuring all employees across our various locations are trained in operational excellence, customer service, and compliance with company standards. This position requires traveling between locations and providing hands-on, tailored training programs designed to enhance management and hourly employee skills and knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Work in part as a floor manager, when needed.

Observing PM shifts for operational excellence.

Implement existing training programs tailored to the needs of different restaurant operations; this includes bar, service/hospitality, paperwork, compliance, safety and more.

Conduct hand-in-hand training for all levels of staff, from hourly to management, across our 8 locations in the DMV.

Update training materials and manuals according to new policies, procedures, and technology with direction from the Operations Team and/or HR

Work closely with management at each location to identify operational issues and discuss potential solutions with the Training Director

Monitor and assess the outcome of training to ensure it is meeting operational goals and improving overall location performance.

Foster a positive training environment with interactive, transparent sessions and real life learning experiences.

Assist in the development of e-learning modules or remote training sessions, as needed.

The Requirements

Proven experience as a Trainer or Training Manager in the hospitality or restaurant industry.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage and motivate others.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.

Proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Suite. Experience with Wisetail is a plus.

Ability to travel consistently between various locations in the DMV.

Ability to work 10 hour shifts, including standing for extended periods of time.

High level of professionalism and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Highly effective writing, proofing, and editing abilities.

Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to establish and meet deadlines.

Must be able to secure applicable licensing including ServSafe, ABRA, etc within 30 days
