***The IU5 Migrant Education Program is looking for a lead teacher for The Adams County Summer School of Excellence at Vida Charter School, Gettysburg. Candidates will need to be available June 10-13, 2024 for onboarding, move-in, and in-service as well as program dates which are June 17th - July 11, 2024, Monday - Thursday (excluding July 4th) from 8:00am-3:30pm.

Position Summary:

The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5's Migrant Education Program is seeking a lead teacher for a campus-based summer school program. In addition to planning, instructing, and assessing Migratory/English Language Learner students through daily on-site instruction, the lead teacher will coordinate with the Program Supervisor for daily operations. The lead teacher will also assist with coordinating registration, transportation, scheduling, and professional development opportunities.

The primary goal of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers to make a lasting impact with diverse students! The part-time, contracted position reports to the Migrant Student Support Specialists and Program Supervisors.

Required Qualifications:

Current valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate

Required state clearances to work with students

Desired Qualifications:

Experience supervising programs

Teaching experience preferred

Experience working with migratory students and/or English Language Learners

Reliable transportation to and from the summer campus location

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Assist the Program Supervisor in developing the summer program

Coordinate student registration and transportation

Assist the Program Supervisor in creating summer program schedules

Participate in and help lead required professional development at the summer school in-service training

Complete daily attendance records

Work with the summer program teachers and aides to coordinate daily activities

Create an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students ·

Create and utilize lesson plans following the Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines

Provide daily on-site instruction to summer school students

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs and abilities of individual students

Accompany students during educational activities

Maintain accurate and complete records for each student

Assist the Program Supervisor by collecting and submitting required documentation from summer teachers, aides, and nurse.

Implement and enforce all policies and rules

Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, teacher aides, partners, coordinators, and supervisors

Perform other duties as assigned

Performance Factors/Job Competencies:

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and/or independently with minimal supervision

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Knowledge of state and federal laws that impact the organization

Work Environment:

This job operates in various locations. Incumbent must have the ability to monitor students and check work in classrooms with a variety of seating and desk organization. Candidate are required to have reliable transportation to arrive on time to the teaching location.
