Job Description

ROLE AND PURPOSE: Completes, maintains, and reports out on the department preventive maintenance work orders. Completes preventive maintenance on Food and Nutrition Services equipment including steamers, refrigeration systems, and water filtration systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Must have valid Texas driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Special Knowledge/ Skills:

Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with external and internal customers.

Knowledge of kitchen equipment and kitchen operations.

Working knowledge of basic mechanical techniques.

Knowledge of refrigeration systems desirable.

Knowledge of kitchen safety procedures preferred.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

Provides instruction/training to department Team members concerning approved equipment preventive maintenance procedures.

II. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE

Models behavior that promotes a positive organizational climate.

Provides assistance in organization of maintenance tasks.

Assists in advancing the mission, vision, goals, and strategic plan for the district.

Provides effective communication with staff and campus personnel.

III. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT

Maintains an effective system of communication among department maintenance staff and campuses.

IV. ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

Responds to and directs all maintenance issues appropriately.

Manages, maintains, and runs reports of the work order system.

Manages, maintains, and runs reports of the equipment inventory system.

Assists with coordinating the installation of new equipment and the appropriate transfer/disposal or auction of old equipment.

Follow all AISD safety procedures as covered in AISD safety handbook

Abide by all AISD policies and procedures as outlined in AISD auxiliary employee handbook

Assume responsibility for safe operation and care of assigned service vehicle tools and equipment.

Coordinate, organize and complete daily assignments assuming responsibility for proper documentation regarding assigned task, work orders and procurement of supplies.

Assists with the department's maintenance and equipment budget.

V. STUDENT MANAGEMENT

Demonstrates support for the district's student management system and expected student behavior related to the operational aspects for food service.

VI. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Maintains a working knowledge of district policies, procedures, and practices

Helps facilitate communication and coordination with campuses.

Provides support during meetings with departmental, campus, and administrative staff.

VII. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

Seeks, accepts, and responds to evaluative feedback from peers and supervisors

Assumes personal responsibility for enhancing competencies through staff development.

MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; small hand tools; ladder; mechanical and electrical testing equipment; small truck or van. Power, hand and pneumatic tools, drills, saws, shears, snips, refrigerant pressure gauges, multi-meters, testers, leak detectors, man lifts, scaffolds and ladders and two-way communication devices.

Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving. Walking over rough or uneven surfaces.

Lifting: Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds)

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work alone; may work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
