Position

Electrical Computer Engineer – Embedded Systems & Project Management

Description

We are seeking a seasoned Electrical Computer Engineer with at least 6 years of professional experience, who combines deep expertise in embedded electronics with robust project management capabilities. This role demands a thorough, intuitive understanding of electrical circuit design and a proven track record of leading projects from conception to completion.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious and will thrive in a dynamic small business environment, taking on a dual role that blends technical engineering tasks with project leadership, particularly within the consumer electronics industry. This position requires a rapid prototyping mindset and the ability to be nimble and pivot quickly, distinct from the slower pace often found in sectors like automotive or aerospace. Candidates should have a solid understanding of electromechanical systems such as DC motors, speakers, and transducers, with knowledge of back EMF and power transfer into electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

Design and prototype advanced electrical circuits and embedded systems, focusing on optimization for power, efficiency, and size constraints, with a specific aim for rapid development cycles in consumer electronics.

Develop and integrate electromechanical components like DC motors, speakers, and transducers, understanding their dynamics such as back EMF and power transfer.

Lead and manage the complete product lifecycle, including planning, design, production, quality assurance, redesign, and end-of-life processes.

Navigate the complexities of embedded systems on a chip (SoC) including knowledge about Bluetooth / WiFi antenna layout, routing, and matching network design.

FPGA updates and design.

Engage fully in all aspects of consumer product design, demonstrating a passion and curiosity for solving problems and delivering market-leading products.

Spearhead project management activities, ensuring alignment of electrical design with overall product objectives and timelines.

Write and maintain robust firmware and software, including PC scripts, in languages such as C++ and Python.

Perform hands-on assembly and testing of PCBs, employing a deep, intuitive understanding of DC electrical properties such as power, inductance, capacitance, and efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with a Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical engineering with a significant focus on embedded systems and electromechanical systems.

Extensive experience in designing, testing, and optimizing compact, multi-layer PCBs.

Proficiency in firmware and software development, with a solid command of C++, Python, and other relevant programming languages.

Comprehensive knowledge and practical application of DC electrical properties, circuit design, Bluetooth antenna layouts, and electromechanical systems.

Helpful Additional Skills

Experience with audio systems and camera technologies in embedded systems or consumer products is a significant plus.

Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of motivating teams and managing complex projects.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and under pressure.

Certification in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile, Scrum) would be advantageous.

Additional Benefits

Full coverage of premium payments for medical, dental, and vision insurance

Company-sponsored Simple IRA plan with 1:1 match up to 3% of your annual salary

Annual contribution to employee HSA

Vacation, sick and personal time are covered by an unlimited personal time off (PTO) policy

Work related relocation and moving expenses reimbursed up to $10,000
