Summary: The Medical Assistant promotes and supports the mission of the Outpatient Mental Health, Primary Care Practice, and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program’s. Primary responsibilities are inclusive of clinical and administrative duties, for all programs promoting health and wellness of the patients/clients served.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Greet clients/patients upon entry into the office.

· Answer and direct phone calls; document and transmit messages.

· Schedule appointments.

· Check-in patients, obtain necessary patient information

· Update patient records, and ensure all forms and consents are completed by patients.

· Filing and organizing of patient/client records.

· Copying and completing forms.

· Check-out patients, assist with referral processing, and arrange laboratory services.

· Handle billing processes and invoices; collect co-pays.

· Prepare patients for examination, obtain vitals signs, and record patients' health history.

· Administer injections (IM, SQ, and intradermal) under supervision.

· Perform routine specimen collection and tests.

· Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments.

· Sanitize all patient access areas including waiting rooms, exam rooms, and restrooms.

· Assist Doctor with medical treatments, procedures, and exams.

· Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies

· Use electronic medical record (EMR)

· Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.

· Maintain required certifications and continuing education classes.

· Additional administrative duties as assigned by CEO/Program Director.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant certification program preferred.

• CPR & First Aid certfication

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times

• Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.

• Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies.

• Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
