Tooling Engineer III

Location: Merritt Island, Florida

Compensation: $60/HR

Overview:

We are seeking highly skilled Tooling Engineers to join our team on a contract basis, with potential full-time opportunities for standout candidates. This role is crucial for pioneering projects that will significantly influence future aerospace initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design and management of tooling throughout the development and build life cycle to support production.

Conduct detailed analysis (Hand Calculations & FEA) to validate tooling designs.

Draft and execute Statements of Work (SOWs) for external vendors.

Serve as the responsible engineer for individual tooling projects, coordinating directly with manufacturing and product development teams.

Design Concept CAD models using PTC Creo and oversee the design review process.

Manage external design and fabrication partners from project inception to delivery, ensuring functional accuracy and adherence to specifications.

Actively participate in equipment fabrication, assembly, and commissioning.

Maintain project schedules, budgets, and provide regular progress updates.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Structural, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

7+ years of experience in designing and integrating mechanical and electrical systems.

Proficient in CAD modeling, particularly PTC Creo, with experience in Windchill for revision control.

Proven track record of driving complex engineering projects to completion.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., including U.S. citizens, nationals, permanent residents, refugees, or those granted asylum.

Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

Preferred Skills:

Hands-on experience in aerospace or related fields, with a preference for candidates who have participated in commercial development programs.

Comprehensive knowledge of industry code standards and experience with multiple CAD packages such as Catia and SolidWorks.

Direct experience with tooling for aerospace, aircraft, or similar industries; candidates from other sectors like oil/gas, medical device manufacturing, or large structure tooling (e.g., steel bridges) are also encouraged to apply.
