The Immigration Center for Women and Children (ICWC) is looking to hire an immigration attorney who will provide free and affordable immigration services to unaccompanied children and underrepresented immigrants in our Las Vegas office. ICWC is a non-profit legal organization that strives to provide security and stability for immigrants who are victims of crime and survivors of violence. ICWC primarily works with federal immigration laws that allow marginalized immigrants apply for employment authorization, humanitarian-based relief, and permanent residency. We believe in a client centered practice, respect for both clients and employees, compassion for immigrants and their families, and empowering survivors to overcome trauma. This is a fast-paced, high-volume office where there is always something new to learn. We desire to create a supportive workplace where self-care is valued. Our primary goal is to provide high-quality legal services to the immigrant community.

Position Description:

ICWC seeks to hire an immigration attorney to join our team of licensed attorneys, DOJ representatives, legal assistants, and administrative support staff. This position works with our Unaccompanied Children project, but will also take on other removal and affirmative cases.

The caseload will a focus on services to survivors of violence, victims of crime, and children who have been based abandoned, and neglected. The attorney will primarily work with humanitarian cases (including Asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), U Visa, T Visa, and VAWA).

The position is available immediately, but for the right candidate we can be flexible on the start date, to include starting after the July bar exam or after a clerkship ends.

Requirements:

Juris Doctorate degree from accredited ABA Law School (note that we cannot hire a DOJ accredited representative for this role)

Law license, and agreement and ability to register and sit for the next Nevada Bar Exam if currently licensed in another state (law graduates registered for the bar exam are also encouraged to apply)

Willingness to study Spanish and increase fluency in order to work with clients in Spanish

Strong writing skills and meticulous attention to detail

Demonstrated interest in low-income legal services and/or a commitment to immigrants' rights and Non-Profit work

Ability to work effectively with survivors of violence, victims of crime, and those who have experienced other forms of trauma

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work with Monolingual Spanish speakers independently

Immigration law experience (including volunteer and clinical)

As of 2024, the beginning salary is $70,000 for a Staff Attorney with no experience who is admitted to practice (in any state) and is higher for attorneys with specific types of experience.
