What you will do:

As an Architect of SRE & Enablement, you’ll be partnering with software development technical leaders, a global team of embedded SREs, and platform leadership in designing the future of reliability & developer productivity. This role is hands-on and requires an experienced individual who both understands the big picture, but also appreciates the nuances and detail that go into building an enterprise-grade self-serve platform with a commitment to operational excellence.

The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge of cloud architecture, designing for reliability, SRE best practices as well as developer productivity & platform experience. You would also display your strong background in observability, incident process, cost savings and operational / engineering excellence. Challenges of globally distributed high volume/low latency services, deciding what and when state should be shared, and designing for failure scenarios should drive you.

You will work with some incredibly talented and passionate developers with a solid technical background to bring products and services to a market with unique technical challenges.

Role and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

● Design and guide teams in adoption of a platform interface focused on increasing developer velocity

● Partner closely with fellow architects to determine functional and non-functional requirements, reliability strategies, and developer productivity

● Hands on coding of PoCs, as well as production support during significant incidents

● Drive efficiencies in cloud spend alongside the Engineering Platform teams

● Work closely with Enterprise Platform teams to create high-level implementation specs with a focus on production integration and feasibility

● Focus on operational and engineering efficiency, looking for ways to consolidate tool usage, simplify developer journeys, reduce time to production and incident remediation

● Deliver a strategy around building templates and golden paths for the core developer personas

● Measurably improve the cognitive load on developers by automating and shifting left fundamental necessities like security, observability, HA design and more

Skills and Qualifications

Required Skills And Experience

● Demonstrable expertise in AWS and scaling Kubernetes native applications (CKA, CKAD, CKS are nice to have)

● 10+ years of experience in either an SRE role or a role with similar responsibilities

● Excellent ability to articulate and document a vision, gain consensus and align engineers

● Strong experience in operational excellence, SLIs, cost savings insights and visualizations

● Experience with developer platform tools and developer enablement practices ● Relevant software engineering experience with at least one language (Go, Ruby, Python, Erlang or Java)

● Understanding of microservices, distributed systems and client-server architectures

● You are eager to challenge the status quo

● Proactive mindset, addressing potential issues before they occur.

● Track record of making improvements and leading solutions that remove technical pain points and facilitate growth.

● Excellent communication skills in English is essential

CALIFORNIA ONLY

Compensation for this role is expected to be between $220,000 and $260,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
