Role Details:

Job Title: Cisco Voice Engineer

Overview: The Cisco Voice Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Cisco Unified Communications solutions, including voice, video, and collaboration technologies. This role requires expertise in Cisco voice and collaboration products, network infrastructure, and VoIP technologies to support business communications needs. The Cisco Voice Engineer collaborates with stakeholders to understand requirements, design solutions, and provide ongoing support to ensure reliable and efficient voice communications.

Responsibilities:

Solution Design and Implementation:

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and design Cisco Unified Communications solutions that meet business needs and objectives.

Design and configure Cisco voice and collaboration products, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX), Cisco Unity Connection, and Cisco Webex Calling.

Implement voice and video network infrastructure, including routers, switches, gateways, and session border controllers (SBCs), to support VoIP communication.

Voice and Video Conferencing:

Configure and support Cisco voice and video conferencing solutions, such as Cisco Webex Meetings, Cisco TelePresence, and Cisco Webex Teams, to enable virtual collaboration and communication.

Integrate voice and video conferencing systems with other collaboration tools and business applications to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Quality of Service (QoS) and Performance Optimization:

Implement Quality of Service (QoS) policies and mechanisms to prioritize voice and video traffic over the network and ensure optimal performance and call quality.

Monitor and analyze network performance metrics, including jitter, latency, and packet loss, to identify and resolve issues impacting voice communications.

Unified Communications Security:

Implement security controls and best practices to protect Cisco Unified Communications systems and data, including authentication, encryption, and access controls.

Conduct security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Troubleshooting and Support:

Provide tier 3 support and troubleshooting for Cisco voice and collaboration systems, diagnosing and resolving complex issues related to call routing, voice quality, and system interoperability.

Collaborate with vendors and technical support teams to escalate and resolve issues that require vendor assistance or product updates.

Documentation and Training:

Maintain comprehensive documentation of Cisco voice configurations, network diagrams, and system configurations.

Develop and deliver training materials and user guides to educate end-users on Cisco voice and collaboration tools and best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration preferred.

Proven experience as a Cisco Voice Engineer or similar role, with expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting Cisco Unified Communications solutions.

In-depth knowledge of Cisco voice and collaboration products, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Webex Calling, and Cisco Webex Meetings.

Strong understanding of VoIP protocols and technologies, including SIP, H.323, RTP, and codecs.

Experience with network infrastructure, routing, switching, and Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms in support of voice communications.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a focus on diagnosing and resolving complex voice and video communication issues.

Experience with security best practices and compliance requirements for voice and collaboration systems.
