The Microsoft Server Engineer position will provide support to the Active Directory Team and for IPv6-related activities. This candidate will be responsible for all IPv6 integration activities for the Windows Server team including providing support for IPv6 Testing, design, implementation, and integration with Windows Active Directory, MS ADFS, and Domain Controllers. The candidate will be working with a team of server engineers to troubleshoot issues for multiple systems in multiple datacenter locations. The candidate will provide support, implementation, and design services for Windows-based systems across the enterprise. The candidate will be responsible for resolving and completing assigned tasks and change requests and will act as an escalation for support issues. The candidate will also be responsible for applying new solutions through research and collaboration with team members and will be advising on course of actions for new application initiatives.
· Two-days per week onsite requirement in Washington DC.
· Once every 2-3 months support existing server infrastructure in a 24x7 on-call escalation capacity as part of a team rotation.
Top Qualifications, Skills, Experience or Certifications:
Expert-level knowledge of Windows OS-based computer devices and managing Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, registry and files system security as needed.
Strong knowledge in Active Directory, Multi-factor Authentication, Public Key Infrastructure, and identity and access management.
Intermediate experience scripting in PowerShell to perform automation of tasks.
Experience performing dual-stack implementation of IPv4 and IPv6, ideally experience deploying and operating IPv6 only environments.
Experience performing dual-stack and IPv6-only testing of Windows Servers, Domain Controllers, SCCM, and other Windows-based systems
Experience trouble-shooting IPv6 authentication issues with VPN
Experience trouble-shooting issues with replication and service issues via sites and services in an MPLS-hybrid environment.
Experience operating in federal government enterprise environments and apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG’s) strongly preferred.
Experience managing active directory for on-prem and cloud through MS ADFS, Azure, and AWS.
Experience with hardware and software purchases
Experience managing environments of 2000+ servers across multiple field site locations.
