About the role:

The Senior Project Financial Analyst/Project Finance Analyst is a member of the Project Finance (PF) group within George Clinical. The PF group is responsible for supporting the financial reporting process of contracted clinical research projects for both internal and external customers across all functional areas and geographies.

This role in the Project Finance team who works closely with one or more Project Leads to implement projects by contractual obligations and scope of work.

Key Accountabilities:

Project Specific:

Participate in Project Handover from BD to Project Operations to understand contractual arrangements that may impact the financials as well as any subcontractors in use.

PSA Revenue Management – process PSA unit revenue recognition and post journal entries. Compare Project Operations expected revenue to Journal entry to ensure accurate revenue posting.

Ensure revenue recorded in accordance with current accounting principles.

Ensure that subcontractor costs have been appropriately accrued based on revenue recognition each month.

Ensure Project Operations is identifying scope changes timely and following the Scope Change SOP.

Post Journal entries for missed revenue (i.e. for newly awarded projects in progress not yet in PSA for revenue recognition.)

Ensure Project Operations revenue forecasting in PSA is accurate as per the timeline and deliverables of the study to minimize actual revenue versus forecasted revenue variances.

Review monthly financials Actual revenue versus forecast revenue and provide variance explanations

Prepare a monthly global project revenue forecast (Backlog) from PSA and Excel sources converted to AUD at current monthly exchange rates.

Review monthly AR aging and assist finance and project operations with collections as necessary.

Assist finance and project operations with monthly reconciliation of pass through and investigator fee advances.

Ensure there are no outstanding material Pass through costs that have not yet been invoiced.

Support budget and forecasting processes to ensure subcontractor costs are included for all projects where in use.

Support project operations with supporting documentation for annual audit questionnaire

Review project profitability report to ensure project profitability is appropriate, investigate as necessary with project manager.

Assist project operations with answering sponsor financials questions as necessary.

Process Improvement:

Contribute to the development, implementation and centralisation of processes, procedures and systems applicable to the Project Operations and Finance areas in George Clinical

Identify continuous improvement within your areas of responsibility.

Quality Management

Comply with George Clinical Quality Management Strategy

All activities conducted in accordance with project specific documentation, applicable SOPs, and applicable regulatory requirements

Participate in audit and inspection activities where applicable

Comply with all designated systems relevant to this role

Ensure own quality control of all relevant processes and activities performed

Other Responsibilities

Ad hoc duties and projects as assigned and agreed by line manager

What are our expectations of candidates?

Tertiary qualifications in science or health care discipline or finance, business, or administration with 5 to 10 years of experience in the clinical research industry

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Previous experience working in a project-based commercial environment e.g. clinical research

Previous experience working as a team leader in a matrix management environment desirable

Finance management knowledge. Basic knowledge of clinical trial processes and ICH/GCP guidelines is desirable

Understanding of project contract and customer relationship management

A proven ability to organize, take initiative, and follow up independently

A high level of attention to detail

Ability to identify and solve problems and suggest effective process improvements

Strong communication skills and ability to work with a variety of internal and external customers

Technological proficiency including Microsoft Office packages

Ability to see the big picture, yet still focus on detail and quality of work

Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organizational priorities and ambiguous environments
