Role Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, highly qualified, and driven candidate to deliver in-depth intelligence on government policy, macro trade and investment trends, and UK businesses activities in India.

This intelligence will inform the UKIBC’s approach to membership and advocacy in India. It will also inform the UKIBC’s briefings for members, our engagements with governments and wider stakeholders, plus our public messaging on the strength and importance of the UK-India trade and investment relationship. The job holder will also support the UKIBC’s government engagement at the Centre and State levels and will work across various sectors and cross-sector themes such as the ease of doing business.

The role requires close coordination with colleagues in the UK and India.

Role & Responsibilities

The core job responsibilities would include:

- Providing high quality analysis on politico-economic and policy trends in India as well as global/geopolitical engagements/developments drawing-out relevance for the UK in India. This analysis will provide the basis for strategic decisions on UKIBC programming, content for blogs/newsletters by leadership and overall organisational understanding.

- Track and report on UK companies’ developments such as investments, partnerships and other activities in India at national and regional levels. This will include greenfield investments/new entrants, expansions by companies already in India, and major deals and partnerships formed by UK businesses, including universities and research organisations.

- In the other direction, track and report on India companies’ developments such as investments, partnerships and other activities in the UK. This will include greenfield investments/new entrants, expansions by companies already in UK, and major deals and partnerships formed by Indian businesses, including universities and research organisations.

- Provide well-researched content for blogs/newsletters and briefing/speaking notes for leadership and sector leads.

- Develop and maintain on a dynamic basis factsheets capturing macro-economic/trade/investment performance particularly bilateral data using international and government databases (ex: IMF, RBI, WB, HMRC, MoCI etc.).

- Provide well-rounded research for our various programmes such as our flagship events and workstreams across various themes, eg, ease of doing business, technology, sustainability, etc.).

- Provide administrative and liaison support for UKIBC’s interactions with Indian government at the Centre and in states, coordinating with the departments and UKIBC members. Our interactions include events, delegations, and meetings.

- Any other tasks/activities as assigned on the job.

Work Experience & Skills:

-Min. experience of 10 years in international trade/investment affairs, political and/or economic research

-Experience monitoring and analysis of industry and company-level developments.

-Experience with using various data sources and databases for statistics.

-Familiarity with engaging Indian government will be an added advantage.

-Exposure to international/multi-cultural work environment is desirable.

-Exceptional writing skills that effectively convey key messages to target audiences in a compelling and credible manner.

-Proficiency with creative presentation formats, eg, infographics and Canva, would be an added advantage.

-Ability to multi-task and collaborate internally on organisational.

Education: Minimum of bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy or related areas from a well-recognised institution.
