ABOUT THE POSITION

Nahanni Construction Ltd. is accepting resumes for Site Superintendents to work at our various project sites. The successful candidates will work on a rotational schedule in a remote work camp environment.

The Site Superintendent coordinates all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully and safely complete the project on schedule and within budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Review allocation of labour, materials, and equipment.

Attending company project start-up meeting.

Acquire thorough knowledge of project scope, drawings, specifications, and schedule.

Initiate, coordinate, direct and evaluate plans, schedules, and site personnel to ensure project goals are met.

Ensure all crew members are aware of and adhere to any permits, company policies and safety rules and regulations.

Provide solutions and recommendations for effectively completing tasks.

Systematically coordinate project staff to ensure project elements are delivered on schedule.

Monitor daily allocation of man hours and progress schedules.

Maintain open communication with the Project Manager regarding all project matters.

Report accurate quantities for labour cost reports.

Prepare daily construction reports for management.

Oversee crews to ensure the efficient and timely completion of assignments.

Enforce a high standard of safety and quality for the project's duration.

Confer with the Project Manager and Field Engineer regarding the percentage complete.

Attend pre-construction/construction meetings and advise the Project Manager of any anticipated future concerns.

Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for sub-trades in consultation with Engineers.

Review subcontractor and supplier invoices against field purchase orders and reports any discrepancies to Project Manager or Accounting Department.

Conduct or assign someone to conduct daily and weekly toolbox safety meetings.

Review and approve documentation for cost-plus labour, material, and equipment (LME) daily and return it to the Site Administrator.

REQUIREMENTS

5-7 years’ experience in a supervisory role in civil construction.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Knowledge of safety requirements and legislation within the construction/mining industry.

Possesses an understanding of engineered drawings.

Underground civil works experience would be an asset.

Solutions-oriented and problem-solver.

Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Ability and desire to work in a remote location.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Nahanni is an open-shop Contractor that provides competitive pay and benefits. Compensation is dependent on experience.

Nahanni pays for and books travel to and from the project site. In addition, employees are entitled to a rotational travel allowance.
