Location Address: Downtown Toronto – hybrid – onsite 2-3/week

Required within GTA – Yes

Contract Duration: 6 months

Possibility of extension: Yes

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Typical Day in Role:

• Support the definition of the International Wealth Management data hub strategy and roadmap to drive specific operational data capabilities.

• Work collectively with the Business Platforms and Experience team to articulate business requirements into system requirements for new enhancements or projects.

• Responsible and accountable for the business requirements/specifications to be complete, correct, consistent, concise, and achievable.

• Collaborate with head office and in-country business partners to Document, analyze, research, and define user and system requirements and features relating to strategic data projects/initiatives. Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, source-to-target data mapping, data specifications, User stories, as required.

• Document data transformation and cleansing rules for data migration. Previous expertise with Data warehousing projects.

• Provide expertise on systems gap analysis and potential risks/issues on projects, enhancements, and initiatives.

• Acts as a liaison between business and IT to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Present recommendations with technology teams, collaborating on system design, and understanding process, database structures, and Data Model.

• Responsible for reviewing and analyzing end-to-end testing results for data projects.

• Manage communications and status reporting of ongoing initiatives, including summarizing project risks and options and facilitating prompt decisions when needed.

• Provide expertise on relational and dimensional data modelling.

• Provide the team expertise on data models such as star and snowflake schemas.

• Proficiency in SQL is a must have.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 10+ years of experience in big data analysis, data engineering, or data architecture field

• 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role - Experience in leading and coaching teams, with track record of attracting and developing talent.

• 8-10 years in experience in relational databases and SQL; ability to run complex queries independently.

• Hands on experience in big data tools and technologies, as well as data visualization and reporting tools such as PowerBI.

• Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.

• Experience in working with cloud-based data platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.

• Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Full proficiency in Spanish, nice to have, an asset.

• Relevant working experience in the financial sector, Wealth Management, or capital markets experience, in data projects, an asset.

Best VS. Average Candidate:

The ideal candidate would have previous Scotiabank experience or wealth management initiatives experience. Has led/managed a team of Data analysts / Data engineers in his recent position.
