Designation: Research Engineer, Grinding Applications Technology

We seek to hire a Grinding Applications Technologist to be part of Abrasives Research and Development team located at Saint-Gobain Research India (SGRI), Chennai, with a mission to enable business growth through technology innovation. You will work with the business and the R&D teams, both regional and global, to investigate problem area related to grinding with abrasive products, work on developing solutions using necessary tools and techniques as well as leveraging internal and external resources and suggest solutions backed by sound analytical and logical reasoning.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

an integral member of the Abrasives Product Development Team and apply basic science and technology to study the performance of products under different application conditions.

robust experimental methods that simulate customer applications to characterize the product performance, backed by measurement techniques.

and document progress through effective communication, including generation of good quality, clear and concise technical reports.

with external and internal collaborators in business unit, and end customers to identify opportunities for business growth through exploratory projects and avenues to develop new grinding applications.

to develop scientific talent within the organization through initiatives like seminars/webinars and training.

Educational Background:

in Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering/ Mechatronics with Thesis related to Grinding/ Machining from premier academic institutions + 1-2 years’ working experience (preferred) OR

Tech Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering/ Mechatronics with relevant experience of 3-4 years in an organization of repute.

Desired skills & Experience:

Academic or working experience in Grinding/ Machining, accompanied by knowledge of principles of machining, metal cutting, tribology, etc.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. Proven two-way communication skills to deliver the right messages convincingly with right structuring adapted to the target audience.

to have: Skills in adjacency domains like imaging, surface topography measurement, sensor selection and automation, vibration measurement, analysis of thermal effects in machining/ grinding, statistics and use of relevant tools, NDE, experience in Solidworks, MINITAB, MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, VBA, CNC programming, etc.
