Athletic Communications Assistant (Internship)

Middle Tennessee State University has an opening for an Athletic Communications Assistant internship position.

Job Summary: This Athletic Communications Assistant will assist in the coverage of all 17 of MTSU's teams, including primary contact responsibilities for two or more teams in addition to helping with the coverage of Blue Raider football and basketball as needed. Day-to-day duties include, but are not limited to, social media management for assigned sports, writing press releases, upkeep of media guides and game notes, website maintenance, and other duties. This position will work closely with the Associate Director for Athletic Communications and the Athletic Communications Assistant Directors.

Start date: The selected candidate would ideally start in early July.

Applicants with a strong background in Photoshop and InDesign, as well as baseball/softball StatCrew, will be given top preference.

Required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or a related field

Previous experience as a student worker, graduate assistant or intern in athletic communications/sports information

Knowledge of social media platforms with the ability to strategize and maintain a content schedule

Possess a working knowledge of StatCrew and NCAA LiveStats as well as Adobe products such as Photoshop and InDesign

Ability to manage multiple tasks

Strong writing and editing skills with a working knowledge of AP Style

Preferred qualifications:

Previous experience handling a brand or team social media account

Previous experience as a primary contact for a college sports team

Experience in graphic design, photography and/or videography a plus
