Women's Varsity Basketball Coach

Founded in 1961, Sandy Spring Friends School is a progressive, coed, academically-rigorous day and boarding school serving approximately 700 students from age three through 12th grade. The campus is located on 140 acres in the historic Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the School is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education and accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.

Summary: Sandy Spring Friends School seeks a passionate and experienced Women's Varsity Basketball Coach with a commitment to promoting inclusivity and sportsmanship who will lead our athletes to success both on and off the court. As a coach you are responsible for fostering a positive team culture that aligns with the school's values. Coaches must be willing to work additional hours, preseason and holidays. Practices are generally Mondays to Saturdays and last 2-hours. This is a stipend position.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

Implement a comprehensive training program, conducting engaging practices, and providing individualized coaching and feedback

Collaborate with the Middle School to develop program alignment for continuity.

Organizes and supervises all players on the team during athletic practices, including riding the bus to away games.

Follows all athletic department guidelines in regard to playing time and missed practices, etc.

Emphasizes safety precautions and uses accepted training and injury procedures and works with the Athletic Trainer in the event of player injuries

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Coaching experience with JV or Varsity teams

Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong in tactical development, the use of Hudl and related software and a strong grasp of social media.
