The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a New Business Development Director to spearhead our new business expansion in Japan, providing Flywheel's services to domestic companies and international businesses with branches in Japan, and to take responsibility for this initiative. We aim to triple our business in Japan over a two-year period and this role plays a key part in achieving that growth objective.

As a player-manager, you will devise and implement consulting sales strategies for customer engagement within Japan, drive revenue growth with top brands, lead and mentor the new business team, and achieve results beyond the set revenue targets. In collaboration with the marketing team, you will enhance lead generation in Japan, explore various services and market opportunities, and manage the entire sales process from opportunity identification to contract conclusion.

You will also work closely with the media team, account managers, and marketing team to acquire new clients and support a smooth onboarding process. This role requires experience in sales and sales leadership, attention to detail and organizational skills, exceptional communication abilities, and the capacity to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at various levels both within and outside the company.

What You Will Do:

Actively develop prospects and build a high-quality new business pipeline.

Deeply understand market trends and client needs, solving clients' issues and achieving agreed evaluation metrics through strategic formulation and implementation.

Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the sales process, engaging various levels of the organization's executives.

Build and network long-term relationships with clients.

Create compelling storyboards that demonstrate our capabilities and services in support of clients' needs for end-to-end business planning.

Accurately report leads, pipelines, and forecasts on a regular basis (accurate pipeline reporting means achieving the pipeline forecast consistently).

Develop strategies for demand generation and potential case studies.

Participate in exhibitions and events to promote Flywheel solutions and identify future clients.

Manage and mentor a new business team, educating the team on skills to drive lead generation, sales, and accurate forecasting.

Collaborate with the Client Services division, understanding the value proposition of all products/services, the current market situation and demand, and proposing solutions to solve client business issues and promote growth.

Understand industry news and macro trends, reflecting these in proposals for clients.

Create customized proposal materials for target customers and conduct presentations.

Develop and improve sales pitches.

Focus on contract signings with customers as the main KPI, driving activities towards achieving targets.

Who You Are:

Proven capability in managing sales pipelines at the highest level.

Over 7 years of sales experience, especially in selling to medium-sized and large enterprises.

Specialized knowledge in e-commerce.

At least 3 years of sales leadership experience, with a proven track record of team building and management.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients.

High motivation and enthusiasm, commitment to outperform targets.

Project management skills and the ability to multitask.

Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and execute projects efficiently.

Experience in managing external relationships to achieve mutually beneficial goals.

A solution-oriented mindset that finds solutions and processes even in ambiguous situations.

The Interview Process:

Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.

Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
