The Commercial Lines Insurance Consultant serves as a licensed insurance agent. This individual provides consulting services to recommend insurance products and adequate coverage. An ideal candidate possesses a thorough understanding of commercial sales with the ability to provide solutions to business owners and negotiate rates.
Responsibilities:
Quote and write new commercial lines insurance, including excess and surplus lines (E&S) insurance
Cultivate relationships within the commercial insurance division by corresponding with business owners, current and potential members
Generate new insurance sales and requote or rewrite existing business policies to retain clients
Meet or exceed individual sales goals established by management
Manage existing commercial insurance portfolio
Perform annual reviews on the insured’s coverage or protection, and offer recommendations for additional risk management strategies
Maintain individual book of business within the Agency Management System, regularly updating notes to include every contact
Maintain accurate records in the Agency Management System by entering data such as insurance inquiries, questions, and policies
Interpret and explain complex insurance policies
Ensure the client’s insurance needs are met by recommending coverage enhancements or cross-selling additional product lines
Implement the agency’s policy, procedure, and underwriting guidelines to minimize errors and omissions
Foster relationships with other professionals in the financial and insurance industry to maintain a high-quality, competitive commercial program
Manage the relationships with business owners by providing exceptional personal service for their commercial needs and those of their employees
Cooperate with business units throughout the organization including Suncoast Business Services, Suncoast Trust and Investments, Suncoast Service Centers, and Suncoast Mortgage Loan Officers
Ensure the confidentiality of all information or transactions between the credit union, agency, members, and employees
Attend training classes to increase professional knowledge
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements)
3+ years of experience as a commercial lines insurance producer, preferably at an independent agency
3+ years of product analysis experience with a successful track record of quote conversion
Florida General Lines Property & Casualty License (2-20) and continuing education requirements must be maintained
Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Florida Insurance Market including product offerings, carrier availability, and industry guidelines
Ability to generate leads and build a book of business with a pipeline for future opportunities
Excellent knowledge of ACCORD forms
Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
Ability to comprehensively communicate facts, policies, and practices
