Job Description

The Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency is designed to provide post-graduate specialty training to PTs in the fields of acute orthopedic care, orthopedic surgery, non-operative sports medicine, regenerative medicine, and injury prevention.

Program Goals & Objectives

Our program mission is to provide physical therapists with the clinical and interpersonal skillsets to practice efficient, effective, ethical orthopedic care in clinical settings with the highest levels of competence and compassion.

The goals of the residency are to develop and master the science and art of outpatient orthopedics through robust clinical, didactic, and professional training. Topics and skills covered include, but are not limited to:

Soft tissue injury evaluation

Surgical Anatomy

Regenerative Medicine

Clinical evaluation and treatment of both acute and chronic orthopedic pathology

Practice building / Professional Development / Practice and Treatment Ethics

Clinical Leadership

Curriculum

The curriculum is divided into three pillars: Academics, Clinical Skills, and Professional Development & Leadership. The didactic portion of the program follows a curriculum similar to a year-long course of study to prepare for the Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) exam. Residents will participate in outpatient clinics, gain exposure to radiology, musculoskeletal ultrasound, sports rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, & pediatric orthopedics. Experiences include, but are not limited to sports medicine, arthroplasty, upper extremity, orthobiologics, spine, hand, & pediatrics. An in-depth orientation is provided to give residents the foundational skills necessary to excel in the academic and clinical curriculums.

Ideal Candidate

The Direct Orthopedic Care Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program is seeking highly energetic physical therapists who are passionate about orthopedics and looking to improve their clinical skills in addition their knowledge on how to build a successful nonoperative orthopedic surgical practice. While this opportunity will allow exposure to the operating room, collaboration with DOC surgeons and APPs, the primary focus will be on clinical orthopedic care.

Program Benefits

$75,000 salary during the year of training.

Sign-on bonus available for those selected to continue as a provider with DOC at the end of the residency program.
