Job Description

The Advanced Engineering Lab at Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) focuses on advanced technology research and development for world-class vehicles, and currently is looking for a talented and motivated battery modeling engineer to support advanced battery model for xEV applications, including battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and hybrid electric vehicles.

This battery modeling Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing advanced battery models pertaining to battery state estimation - state of charge, power, health/ageing, and anomaly, with high fidelity and robustness. You will need to work with battery and vehicle test teams for the model validation data, collaborate with other CAE teams to identify the model gaps and improve the model estimation accuracy, and support overall software build and integration for production vehicle applications.

Responsibilities:

Propose and develop advanced empirical/physics-based battery models in battery state estimations of high accuracy and robustness for state of charge, power, temperature, health, and anomaly.

Conduct comprehensive literature survey in battery modeling field periodically, determine model improvement approaches, develop and validate the improved models.

Analyze numerical simulation and experimental test data, communicate with teams on the analysis results and suggestions on the model development and improvement strategies.

Work interactively and efficiently in a multidisciplinary cooperative environment

Define test matrix for battery lab measurement and vehicle test to ensure accurate data collection and analysis.

Support overall software build and integration for production vehicle applications.

Prepare technical reports to communicate with various teams.
