Job Description:

An Asphalt Foreman is a supervisory position responsible for overseeing and coordinating asphalt paving projects from start to finish. This role involves leadership, project management, and technical expertise in asphalt paving. The Asphalt Foreman works closely with the paving crew, equipment operators, and other construction team members to ensure the successful completion of projects while meeting quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning: Collaborate with project managers to plan and organize asphalt paving projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and logistics.

Team Supervision: Lead and supervise the asphalt paving crew, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and safe operations.

Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that asphalt surfaces meet specified standards for thickness, compaction, and smoothness.

Equipment Coordination: Oversee the operation and maintenance of asphalt paving equipment, coordinating with equipment operators to optimize performance.

Safety Management: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations, conducting regular safety meetings, and addressing safety concerns promptly.

Material Management: Coordinate the delivery and handling of asphalt materials, ensuring an adequate and timely supply for the paving crew.

Communication: Maintain effective communication with the project manager, paving crew, and other stakeholders to provide updates, address issues, and ensure a smooth workflow.

Problem Solving: Identify and resolve challenges that may arise during the paving process, such as equipment malfunctions, weather-related issues, or unforeseen obstacles.

Cost Management: Monitor project expenses, including labor, materials, and equipment costs, to stay within budgetary constraints.

Documentation: Keep accurate records of project progress, including daily reports, material usage, and any deviations from the original plan.

Requirements:

Experience: Experience must be a minimum of 3 years in asphalt paving, with a proven track record of successful project management and crew supervision.

Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a team.

Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding and knowing how to run asphalt paving equipment.

Safety Consciousness: Prioritize and enforce safety standards to create a secure working environment for the crew.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to convey project goals, updates, and expectations to the team and other stakeholders.

Problem-Solving Ability: Proven ability to identify and address challenges promptly to keep the project on track.

Organizational Skills: Effective organizational skills to plan and manage project timelines, resources, and tasks.

Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, weather conditions, and unexpected issues.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in using project management software, spreadsheets, and other relevant tools.

Dependability: Punctuality and reliability in attending work, meeting deadlines, and completing assigned tasks.

Successful completion of a drug screening.

Must have of a valid Driving State license with a clean driving record.

Flexibility to work day and night shifts, as well as out-of-town assignments in Oregon and Idaho.

Availability to work on weekends.

Willing to work in all weather conditions.
