We are a design oriented, convergent firm in which our professional roster consists of architects, interior designers, planners, urban designers, graphic designers, construction administration specialists and several other professional disciplines.

The Opportunity:

Perkins Eastman has an immediate need for an Intermediate Designer for our Los Angeles, CA studio. May telecommute two days per week and more frequently as necessary. Little domestic travel may be involved.

Primary Responsibilities:

Consult with clients under direct supervision of licensed architect regarding functional and spatial requirements for new structures or renovations, and prepare design and specification documents.

Use CAD software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans. Research and select building materials, colors, and equipment.

Analyze comparative systems with engineers and consultants related to structure, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical disciplines.

Work with specifications team, consultants, and vendors to assist with technical specifications development.

Provide building information modeling management of digital project components, including development of BIM execution plan.

Assist with construction administration project phase, including independent submittal review, RFI investigation and response, + limited site observation.

Lead sustainability management and research for project, including design element incorporation, task level management, scheduling, and checklist development to align with LEED process.

Perform design activities including CBC, ANSI/ADA code research, material and building systems research, lay out program components, and refine design and building details.

Required Qualifications:

Must have Bachelor’s in Architecture or related field and 5 years related experience with design and documentation of medium to large scale healthcare projects in California using HCAI/OSHPD standards.

Also requires skills (5 years exp) in: coordinating healthcare projects through all design phases; designing healthcare projects under HCAI/OSHPD 1 + 3; generating Design Services Fee Proposals and responding to RFPs/RFQs; reviewing contracts and running projects from inception to project closeout; managing project teams and determining staffing requirements to meet project milestones; project management including budgeting, staffing, billing and consultant billing; coordinating with consultants and design team; material identification and specifications; quality assurance of contract documents; assisting with the Construction Administration phase including meetings, submittals and preparation of field sketches; utilizing LEAN delivery methods and Design-Build; working with zoning building codes, and building materials; 2D software including AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects and Adobe InDesign, and Affinity Creative Suite; 3D software including Revit, Rhino, Python, and SketchUp; visualization software including V-ray and Enscape; parametric coding tools such as Python and Grasshopper; office automation software including Newforma Project Center, Microsoft Outlook, and Deltek Vision; interior and exterior design and documentation; renovation and expansion projects including existing building survey and documentation; and LEED documentation process.

Type: Hybrid. 3 days in office 2 days working remotely, flexible days/working hours.
