The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing and monitoring supplier performance.

As the primary quality contact for JMA’s supply base, this person will drive and execute the requirements specified in JMA’s Supplier Quality Manual.

This will include onboarding, quality inspections, troubleshooting, and drive overall supply chain improvements and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Take an active role in new supplier selection and development activities to assure long term supplier and product success.

Make recommendations on potential supplier usage based on demonstrated ability to meet requirements, supplier assessments, and historical performance.

Collaborate with design engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards and methods are in place at suppliers.

Ensure suppliers have capabilities and documentation to produce required material that comply with all required certifications and documentation.

Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships as primary quality contact to ensure supplier performance to JMA standards.

Conduct audits, analyze defect trends and lead continuous improvement projects to eliminate defects and error proof supplier processes and deliveries.

Enact corrective action processes related to any product or customer complaints and determine root cause.

Perform preliminary inspection and testing as required for new suppliers, new production parts and collaborate with engineering, sourcing and manufacturing to ensure product is suitable for use.

Provide hands-on support to Incoming Inspection personnel on products involving a wide range of mechanical, electro-mechanical and electric disciplines.

Proficient in First Article Inspection (FAI) creation & review (AS9102).

Develop and maintain internal relationships with other team members in Engineering, Quality, Logistics, etc. to assist with the project at hand.

Provide metrics and reporting on product and Supply Chain quality utilized to manage SQA and supplier performance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, ASQ CQE, or equivalent experience combined with 5 years’ experience.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well across multiple teams.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Strong communication skills for internal and external customers and suppliers.

SAP quality module experience preferred.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel

25% Travel (domestic and international as needed)

Must have excellent analytical skills.

Experience in defect data analysis, including Root Cause Analysis and ensuring effectiveness of Corrective Action Plans

Experience working in an AS9100/ISO9001 environment or other regulated industry.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Must have exceptional decision making and problem-solving skills.

Must have good written and oral communication skills (English)
