The Role
We're looking for a new Software Engineer to join our Search & Recommendations team! This role will contribute to the implementation and maintenance of features and improvements to Redbubble's Search and Recommendations systems to best support the team's objectives and align with Redbubble's engineering practices. Collaborating with the Engineers and Data Scientists, you will understand the requirements and develop solutions to help surface relevant results and provide personalised recommendations for users of our marketplace!
The Search & Recommendations team delivers software functionality through the following technologies: Scala, AWS (DynamoDB, Lambdas, SQS), OpenSearch, Python, Apache Airflow, Ruby on Rails, Redis, PostgreSQL, Buildkite, Datadog.
Key Accountabilities:
Coding, testing and deploying features of software within larger systems
Contributing to initiatives and participating in code reviews within the team
Learning new tools, techniques and technologies
Keep Redbubble's vision, behaviours and values at the forefront of decision-making and actions in day-to-day activities
Engage with other engineers to develop technical development skills and good engineering practices
Contributing to discussions on technical approach and feasibility as your skill and experience of the team's systems develop and improve
Pair with team members to define requirements and build solutions
Participate in team and department ceremonies including retrospectives, stand ups, planning and showcases as necessary
What You’ll Bring:
1-2 years of Software Engineering experience
Some commercial skills and experience in contemporary tech stacks (eg. AWS / Ruby / JVM Languages / Search Engines)
Trained in software engineering practice, either through formal university courses, or intensive bootcamps such as Code Like A Girl, General Assembly, Coder Academy
