The Trinity River Authority is seeking an Electrician to work at its Ten Mile Creek facility in Ferris, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs standardized electrical repair duties requiring a basic knowledge of electrical/electronic theory while becoming familiar with electrical switchgear and related equipment. Detailed instruction is given at the beginning of work and subsequent new assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Inspects, repairs, and maintains electrical systems and equipment.

2. Locates and determines electrical malfunctions.

3. Repairs the electrical components of pneumatic, hydraulic, or electronic equipment. Ability to use technical manuals, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams. Assists in the maintenance of files and records of plant electrical equipment, and work order management system.

4. Performs electrical preventive maintenance.

5. Maintains the cleanliness and order of the electrical shop and electrical test equipment.

6. Performs all duties while observing safety guidelines and security measures as established by the Authority. Maintain good communications with supervisors and co-workers.

7. Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel is required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because, in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely.

WORK LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

No significant financial responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE

Two years of experience as an electrician or with electrical maintenance or completion of a recognized electrical/electronic school.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Texas driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE

Must be knowledgeable of electrical theory and practices. Possess a basic understanding of the installation, maintenance, and safe operation of electrical equipment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Have the ability to read electrical/electronic diagrams.

GUIDANCE RECEIVED

Receives ongoing detailed supervision and standard procedures. Follows standard procedures and/or detailed instructions for each task or assignment; any situation that calls for something different is referred to a supervisor or more senior position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires passing a physical and physical ability assessment specific to this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions include exposure to extreme weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases, and dust, standing for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down several flights of stairs, climbing and descending ladders, working with low/high voltage, working at heights, and working in tight or confined spaces.
